These emerged from two Midjourney sessions. One placed Frida Kahlo inside Dia de los Muertos imagery, painting her into the celebration. The other filtered Day of the Dead scenes through her painterly instincts, treating the holiday itself as if she had rendered it. Neither is what either tradition quite looks like on its own. Something in between. Familiar and strange at once.
The topic here is Dia de los Muertos and Frida Kahlo. Anything that points in that direction, that carries the color palette or the reverence or the calavera warpaint or the marigolds or the sense that grief and celebration are the same act performed at different tempos. Submissions in that spirit are welcome.
