A divide exists among Devotees when it comes to Depeche Mode covers. Plenty of fans cannot stand them, arguing that no one can match what the boys of Basildon built. They have a point. Very few bands ever scratch the surface of what Depeche Mode created, and for some Devotees that is reason enough to skip every cover that gets uploaded to YouTube.

I am not in that camp. For me, a great Depeche Mode cover is the next best thing to a new Depeche Mode song, and we never know how many of those are still coming. The same goes for remixes that find something new in a song you thought you already knew, and for the vampire and pop culture crossovers where Depeche Mode's theology of longing and unrequited love shows up in unexpected places.

This is the warmer side of the site. Cover and remix reviews, vampire and dark fiction crossovers, song-specific deep dives, occasional new releases when they happen. Loving Depeche Mode at this point in life is not a guilty pleasure. It is just a pleasure.
